On Friday, February 10th I will have the opportunity to present during the sixth session of the AIA+2030 Professional Series: Radical Energy Savings for Every Project, which is being hosted by The Columbus Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the US Green Building Council – Central Ohio Chapter. The next session in this ten part series will focus on the illuminating savings that can be driven from daylighting and integrated lighting controls.

AIA+2030 - Session VI - Illuminating Savings: Daylighting and Integrating Lighting Strategies
My presentation of the afternoon is titled “Utilizing BIM for Daylight Simulation.” Highlighting the historical applications of daylighting methodologies in project design, I will show an evolution of how technology is increasing our capability to more fully optimize and quantify our design decisions to determine the most effective approach to daylighting. In addition, I will present a series of project case studies that demonstrate how a BIM enabled workflow can provide these outcomes, concluding in a review of the recent “DesignGroup’s Office as a Living Lab” project that Brandon Pence and I collaborated on.
